Access Statement for Go-By-Cycle

Introduction

Go-By-Cycle, owned and operated by Colin & Beverley Mortimer is a Cycle Hire, Cycle Sales & Cycle Repairs Centre based in the Cotswold Water Park (West). We have, over the past 11 years provided hire cycles for all ages, including - child seats, child tag-along cycles, child trailers, assorted sized children’s and adult cycles, as well as tandems.  Fun & Fitness for all.

approximately 7 miles from the market town of Cirencester  approximately 12 miles from the town of Swindon
• From the A417/419 travel along the B4696 (Spine Road Junction) and follow the brown and white tourism signs - Go-By-Cycle cycle hire
• Access to a network of cycle/walking/bridle paths are available from Go-By-Cycle hire centre and we are an approximate 5 minutes cycle ride to Cotswold Country Park & Beach (Keynes Country Park).
• Delivery/collection service (within the local area from our hire centre) for daily or longer term cycle hire  - minimum 24 hours notice - small charge applicable - call for details on 07970 419208.
• Free car parking available on site when hiring cycles.

Arrival & Car Parking Facilities & Main Entrance

• Follow the brown & white Go-By-Cycle cycle hire signs onto Water Lane, Somerford Keynes to our Main Gate entrance, which is a tarmac surface and is wide enough to take smaller coaches.
• There is a large sign at the entrance displaying the words
 Go-By-Cycle, Cycle Hire and the relevant contact telephone number.
• Go-By-Cycle have free on-site car parking available for customers who are hiring cycles - currently for up to 20 cars - on a hard standing, with an overflow grassy area, all directly adjacent to our Hire Centre.
• Pathways and cycle paths are part gravel, part grass, and our cycle exit/entrance is on a slight incline, which leads to a tarmac surface directing customers across the road to the adjacent cycle/walking path which is gravel surface.
 • There is an alternative footpath entrance via a public right of way which crosses the far boundary of our premises - this is via a wooden footbridge with handrails, and is wide enough to accommodate a pushchair, but there are two small steps on either side of the bridge.
• Alternatively, you can also walk into our premises via the gravel path we have been permitted to lay, which also allows entry/exit to and from the adjacent cycle/walking path.
• Each entry/exit has a sign indicating either cycle or bike hire, for visual reference.

 
Public Areas

• As the pathways are mainly gravel, there may be some loose stones, which can occur in periods of heavy usage during peak business times, so caution is advised when walking/cycling along them.
 
Public WCs

• We do not currently have toilet facilities on site, but there are facilities available in the adjacent Country Park, or alternatively we can provide information on the day of your visit, detailing locations of facilities along the cycling routes. 
 
Restaurants/Bar & Bar area, Picnic Areas & Cafe

• There are several places along the recommended cycling routes, which we can advise on the day, where you can have a picnic, or even visit a local cafe or pub/restaurant for refreshment.  
 
Leisure Facilities

• The nearby Country Park offers facilities such as a cafe, children’s play areas, swimming beach, toilets, watersports (Waterland Outdoor Pursuits).
 
Additional Information

• Go-By-Cycle currently operate 7 days a week (weather permitting) from 1st February until the end of October from 10.00 a.m. until 6.00 p.m.  Thereafter, we advise calling us first so that we can arrange to be of assistance if at all possible.
• School groups etc., by appointment, are welcome, as well as Corporate outings

Future Plans

• We propose to introduce cycling for the disabled as well as adult trikes possibly by 2010/2011
